About us
"Solent Motor Yachts is unique, they don’t just list boats, they match them to clients and vice versa. We can’t thank Derek enough for making sure we had the boat that was right for us. The deal and sea trial could not have been easier, nothing was too much trouble. A pleasure to do business with an honest and straightforward brokerage."
Mr & Mrs D, Hampshire
Solent Motor Yachts is an independent, family-owned business selling motor boats and yachts and is based at the Hamble River Boat Yard in Swanwick.
We are a highly experienced team providing our clients with the complete brokerage service, taking the strain out of buying and selling boats. We make a point of listening to clients’ needs and meeting their requirements.
Our brokerage offers a full range of facilities, with focused marketing for the seller and knowledge and understanding for the buyer. We provide close, personal attention, tailoring services to suit each and every customer.
An official dealer for Azimut Yachts, Solent Motor Yachts is delighted to offer for sale the full range of new Azimut boats from 34ft to 35m.
And with a large selection of brokerage boats for sale too, we offer plenty of choice from RIBs and small ski boats to luxury motor yachts. Along with a wide range of different brands, sizes and ages, we are confident we can bring your dream to life.
Solent Motor Yachts has been operating at Hamble River Boat Yard since 2006. The yard offers a full range of facilities from storage, both in and out of the water, repairs, refurbishment, polishing, servicing, anti-fouling, anodes, covers and valeting. We can take care of your boating requirements and if we can’t, we have lots of contacts who will.
Director, Derek Vaughan-Smith, has been sailing and working with boats on the South Coast since 1997 and knows the waters inside out. He says, "My confidence helps build that of my customers as they get to know their new boat. I have established a strong base of loyal customers who bring Solent Motor Yachts steady repeat business. We’re based just up river from The Hamble’s Jolly Sailor on a five acre site with plenty of free parking, a small marina, an on-site travel lift and Volvo Penta services, so there’s plenty of action!
"I’ve sailed since I can remember. My first solo sail was at seven and I’ve been on the water ever since. Successful in competitive dinghy sailing, I went on to gain a BA (Hons) degree in Maritime Leisure Management in Southampton and went straight into brokering from there. Being a Yacht Master power and sail I am equally capable with both types of boat, my focus at Solent Motor Yachts is on power but we do also market and sell sail boats."
We offer assistance with mooring requirements, surveyors, finance and insurance as well as with any ongoing maintenance needs.
Boating is our passion at Solent Motor Yachts, and customer service and attention to detail our priority.
We look forward to being of service to you.
